Upscale ramen, like a Buddakan or Tao but ramen. Loud electro music, $20 ramen (Akamaru shinaji) but it tasted good- egg not included. The staff yells to welcome you (warmly). Communal tables

If I could rate this place greater than 10/10 I would. Everything here is just amazing. Fried chilli peppers, spicy ramen, ichriraku ramen, and wagyu rolls.

We came her twice for Ramen while in New York. You can't go wrong with the classic Ramen, the pickled mushrooms they put in are delicious.

This is the Yuki Guni special ramen. If it shows up as the ramen of the day, go get it for something different.

Group of 4 and we ordered: Hirata Chicken, Hirata Pork Buns (2x), Umami Mekyabetsu (Brussel Sprouts), and then each got our Ramen (I got Akamaru Modern w/toppings). Perfect amount, amazing as always!

Get the vegetarian ramen with wasabi. You can add meat if you like. But rest assured, the vegetarian broth beats all the other broths, Hands Down.

The Akamaru Modern is the most popular. Silky broth and aromatic garlic oil coats the super-thin, elastic noodles. Tender pork chasu, cabbage, sesame kikurage mushrooms, & scallions are placed atop.

Obvi pork buns. The ramen def lives up to the hype. Go by yourself! You'll get seated so much faster, and you should be eating the ramen quickly anyway, so you won't even have time for conversation.

The Akamaru Modern is one of the best ramen dishes in the city. Pork buns are also tasty and the vibe is generally festive.

Akamaru Ramen with their special egg was awesome. One of the best authentic ramen restaurants in Japan now in other countries. I also like their tea and bean sprouts appetizer free on the table.

Akamaru Modern is one of the best dishes in the city. Go by yourself to recharge, and skip the long wait as the waitstaff will place you wherever there is an opening

Ohh hot savory brothy goodness!! My favorite traditional ramen place in the city. Broth is amazing with perfectly chewy noodles. Get the Akamura Modern w/ nitamago & takana and Pork bun appetizer.

Was at one of the Tokyo locations before getting in here given the popularity. Jade ginger iced tea and an original tonkatsu FTW. Well, for lunch at any rate.

This bun is one of the top three best things I have ever had. The eggplant and eringi mushrooms are fried until super crispy and tossed in Ippudo's house spicy buns sauce Mehr erfahren

Level up your ramen with the pulled pork chashu topping (Shigureni). It comes on the side, but fire that deliciousness straight in on arrival!

Noodle fans line up daily at 5 PM to get a table at this East Village Japanese restaurant before the real crowds form, because the ramen is just that good. [Eater 38 Member]

The pork buns here are fantastic! There are often seasonal ramen flavors that are pretty cool. My go to is the Akamaru Modern. Good happy hour deals if you find yourself waiting at the bar.

Best. Ramen. Ever. Lots of other places try but they are just not as good. Astor Place, and a new location just opened on Upper West. For downtown location prepare to wait for hour(s)

It really is worth the hype. Definitely get pork and veg buns. For an extra $2 they will give you more noodles if you have broth left! A++ service. Also a big space that's good for larger groups.

Classic and all-time favorite ramen spot since I moved to NYC 10 years ago. Come early if you want to be seated within an hour. Eat/drink at the bar as you wait.

I won't be joining the Ippudo cult, but do concede that the pork in my bowl of ramen was the best I've had yet, and the pork buns were better than Momofuku Ssam's. Come alone to avoid waiting forever.

If you see that the special for the day is the Wasabi Ramen, order it! If not, the Akamaru Modern is my favorite. Do not, whatever you do, neglect to order the green tea ice cream + cheese dessert.

Wasabi shoyu ramen is my fave! Be sure to get nitamago in it! (Also, mix well; the wasabi oil floats to the top.) definitely get the pork buns as well: best in the city!

Shishito peppers, pork buns, Karakamen spicy ramen. I have tried almost every item on the menu, these make me happy every time. My favorite ramen in the city (so far)!

Everyone raves about the Akamaru (on the left), but in comparison to the full of flavor Karaka Men (on right), it might as well just be mushroom soup

Try the Modern Ramen. It’s a great twist on a classic. This is a top ramen spot that’s not to miss. Plus, they hand pull their noodles and they’re fantastic

The spicy ramen here is overwhelming, not in a good way. I recommend getting the pork bun and eel over rice. Totto Ramen has the best spicy ramen in NYC - it's a longer wait, but worth it.

If one can stand the 1 hr plus wait while eating the delicious pork buns, the ramen is good. However, the wait time diminishes the tastiness of the ramen. Other quality ramen shops around the area.

Amazing pork or chicken buns. Deliciously simple fresh Japanese cucumber app. I could eat both every day. You're treated with kindness and respect every time. No reservations so be prepared to wait.

Akamaru is the best and most popular ramen. Veggie buns are absolutely delicious and I prefer them over pork buns. Ika Isobe (fried squid) and Samurai ribs are my favorite appetizers.

My first ramen experience & I ordered Amakura per everyone's raving reviews. It was great, but would have to say if you like spicy food go with Karaka ramen on the menu. Also, pork buns a must!

2nd favorite NYC ramen spot. This place has better pork buns than Totto, but Totto's ramen is better. The spicy Tonkatsu ramen is pretty good; expect thin noodles.

One of the top 5 Ramen spots in the city. You will wait 1-2hrs during the evening dinner rush. But it'll be absolutely worth it. Make sure to try the pork buns, too.

Hirata Buns are incredibly fluffy and the pork has great texture and flavor. Akamaru Modern with poached egg is the go-to but the other ramens are almost just as good.

Loved the "modern" ramen. If you get the regular, make sure to add the suggested pulled pork; it gives the ramen its flavor. Pork buns were inconsistent - one great, the other dry.

The Karaka Men is a must if you like your ramen a little spicy. Come on the weekends before 1pm while the rest of New York is at brunch for shorter wait times under 15 min.

Still the best. Worth the ludicrous wait. (Just pop around the corner for a drink at Black & White.) Warning: don't over-do it on starters bc you cannot take home items you're unable to eat!

The pork buns are amazing. As is the Akamaru Modern ramen. NOTE: definitely go on an empty stomach and be prepared to consume all that you order. They don't allow you to take your food to go.
