Really a very cool audio tour. The place is eerie! I've heard night tours are even creepier, but tix are more difficult to get.

At the courtyard, go to other end where's a doorshaped hole in the wall. From there you'll get great view over the bridge.

you need 2-3 days to see the island. 1 day is a history overload. but a must see when in san francisco.
