Ok, so the Disney-like tour through the history of whisky might be a bit phony. However, it all makes sense when you find yourself viewing Arthur's Seat with a flight board of whiskies to savor. Oh my

The visit at the SWE is very entertaining and it is a good place to learn the basics of the whisky. I would recommend the silver tour, the gold tour is 10 pounds more expensive for a 2nd tasting only

Whisky: a great learning experience for those new and even those who already appreciate a wee dram. Museum at the end of the tour is astounding. Don't forget to enjoy the view and a drink at the bar.

Very fun way to learn about the greatest liquid on the planet. The in depth explanation of the different regions was incredibly enlightening. If you can, do a dinner with whisky pairing. Delicious!

Good short tour on how whiskey is made, with the different regions and tastes. Best is the end were you try the whiskey yourself (gold tour).

If you like whiskey then this is for you. Do the gold package tour as that comes with 5 samples vs the silver which has just one. Also the whiskey store is amazing!

We went one rainy day, and it was perfect! I found it very interesting and entertaining. It really pays the visit. BTW, you will have the chance to try a shot of whisky.

We did the silver tour. I would recommend doing the gold because you get to try the 4 varieties of whiskey. It's a very nice experience that involves knowledge and fun.

A must-see in Edinburgh. Serves a compressed info-tour about Scotch whisky. The virtual tour is kind of childish but the tasting and gifts were well worth the amount we paid.

It may seem like a tourist trap, but the staff is patient and knowledgable. If your on the fence about a particular one, the bar downstairs has most of what they offer. Had a really good experience.

If you want to try a blended whisky and have bought the gold tour try it in the first tasting room. It's not offered later as one of your 4 samples.

Great intro to whisky, would recommend trying a flight to get an overview and then moving on to a local spot to enjoy a more authentic tasting

Gimmicky tour, but very informative. Gold tour is £11 more than silver, but 4 additional whiskies (much cheaper than mini bottles or drams in pubs)

Platinum tour is pretty good for the price - they include whisky tasting (as well as a presentation) and give you gift bags afterwards!

Definitely treat yourself to at least the Gold tour. And if you can get Tom H. as your guide, even better. So enjoyable, and a learning experience. And a discount in the shop at the end.

2x a year there's a distillers fair on the top floor. Visit on one of those days, your silver tour ticket comes with free entry (and more tastings!) to the distillers fair! Check for those dates.

The tour is incredibly boring and about as informative as a quick skim of the Wikipedia article on whisky. The whiskys available are nice enough, but it's a waste of time.

The 'tour' bit isn't much but the whisky tasting and the bar was good. Whether you get the gold experience or not - prices in the bar were reasonable
