This is the newest classification in tequila identity. It was adopted by casa de herradura in 1990 w/ the introduction of selecion suprema. Extra anejo tequila is achieved when the tequila is aged for a minimum of three years in oak barrels the aging process adds a deep smokiness & whisky quality to the tequila.
