Really cheap place right in the centre of expensive Old Riga with best regional food classics - pelmeni and "maizes zupa" for desert. I always go there when returning to Riga. Kitsch and a bit trashy

Go up to the highest churchtower in Old Riga - 121m. Saw somewhere on the internet that its open also on Sundays. I myself want to go there finally too!
Culture house with free atmosphere. Latvian speciality-hot Riga black balsam with blackcurrant juice. People talking talking talking, then some French band or swing dancing in the meantime (evenings)
After the crisis people understood that good living is what matters, not some house in the outskirts/swamp or another jeep. This is the first street that saw small creative places clustering together.
Riga's first real Berlin-like turkish kebab place in the Quiet Centre. Wonderful self-baked bread, soup or pide. Good!
I would call it, first overhipped place in Riga - enormous queues and superhip events. Nice food too.
Recommend - they have really interesting tours. Quite a must-see to get to know the history of this region. Besides, the waffel-replica Middle age Blackheads house next to the museum looks stunning :)
Most scenic, postcard outlook on Riga and most valuable property on this coastline. Half gentrified, half falling apart fishermen's village with wonderful wooden houses when going deeper in the island

"Dockland" in Riga, port area that artists since 2005-2008 turned into first creative quarter. Now artists are gone, but the feeling and some more commercial activities are still there.

Magic forest with little, private, luxury beaches stretching up to the tower. Cross the bridge and go to the TV tower along the island's coastline facing the opposite side of the city centre.
