By far the best coffee in town, really personal, and the baristas love to talk about coffee.
The lobster soup is world class good and the minke whale (as well as horse and fish) served on sticks is just over the top — and illegal in many countries. Cosy, quaint ... and plastic cutlery only.
Best hostel. Ever. Young, hip & pretty much self-contained (bar, restaurant, hair salon, laundry are all inside), and overlooking the water!! I'll never stay anywhere else in this city.
It's absolutely amazing here. Worth visiting when you are around, for a morning coffee (soo good.) or fantastic dinner by candle light. It's warm and cozy, and the ambience is great.
Nice local pool. You must shower without clothes before entering the pool, or the Icelandic people will rip you limb from limb (or just yell at you).
When you're going up to your room, taking the stairs is not only the faster route up, but it's a quick way to warm up from walking around town.
Great Hotel and the views from the Lake View rooms are stunning. If the Barman asks if you're a Whisky man then just say no, or it could get expensive.
Such a lovely bakeshop with super cute guys making pastry. You have to try their scones, yummy!
If you, like me, are carnivorous, but remain unconvinced that vegan food isn't tasty, come here. It'll blow your mind. If your sandwich comes with optional "oomph", take it. Happy hour(s) from 4-7pm.
This is my Geysir. I know it is sleeping, and my Strokkur is erupting more right now (but all the geysers in the world are named after it, so please show some respect and try not to fall into it).
Definitely take the path behind the waterfall – exhilarating! Expect to get wet. Start from the right – a little easier climb. And be careful: The whole path can get pretty slippery.

Going down the stairs towards the waterfall turn right first seeking a small stone. Impressive view from here.
