Vivian LeiOktober 6, 2016If you fly Ethiopian Airlines and have a layover you can go to their service desk to get a voucher for food and/or hotel with free shuttle bus. They don't tell you - you need to ask!
The Ethiopian Airlines lounges does not accept up front payments for access. Plaza premium lounge at the far end of the huge departure hall is a decent alternative. At US$ 40 it is in the high end.

Addis Ababa's Bole is quite a busy airport. In times of overcrowding of boarding gates, use any alternative gate that's not overcrowded. They all lead to the same boarding place.

Terrible airport. Three times security control since the entrance, three times to remove shoes, take off laptop etc. Don’t even allow liquids bought at their Duty Free to take on board.

I am a big fan of this airport. Comfy reclining chairs for naps and easy to access WiFi throughout the airport which makes life on international travels much nicer.

They take %7 commission for visa card use in duty free. Cigars is cheap also some perfumes.
