Great memorial, only disappointed in the people who thought they could dip their feet and bodies in the water, it's not a public pool! No park serv. Rep. to monitor

  • DAV - Disabled American Veterans
By Sept. 2, 1945, when Japanese signed the Instrument of Surrender, 671,000 Americans had come home wounded. DAV was there for them then just as DAV is here now for those coming home injured or ill.

One of the newer memorials, but a definite "must-see". Located directly between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. Very scenic!

Order: Delaware (1st state to ratify the U.S. Constitution). To the left is the second, Pennsylvania. Then the order goes back and forth /right and left, around the circle, as each entered the Union.

As long as there aren't undisciplined children running around, this is probably my favorite of the memorials on the Mall. Come anytime sunset or after for the best experience.

States not sorted based on the Pacific and Atlantic sections. Think about it: where would Illinois fit into that categorization? The pillars represent the Pacific and European battles.
