My travel partner enjoyed this meal thoroughly. We waited around 45 minutes as we arrived at 5.15pm for dinner. However I've waited for a longer time during the summer, good but not worth the wait.
A great place to eat Japanese sweet before or after your visit to katsura villa.130 years history, try their famous mugi or chestnut manju sweets. They have tables inside if you can't sit on tatami.

Bohemian style curry restaurant with a lovely garden. Cheerful staff explained the menu to us. Tandoori chicken was succulent paired with brown rice, spinach curry and a craft lager beer.

Went there after the recommendations of foursquare, couldn't agree more. Lovely quiet place to relax and check your pictures you just took from Nijō Castle.
One of our favorite meals in Japan. Stand at the bar (no seats available) and watch them cook simple, delicious skewers. Order the sake flight and enjoy!

Fun decor but the pancakes had way too many ingredients and a sweet spot. Came here on our walking tour and they make issen-yoshoku style pancakes

Great coffee place with a cool design! It gets a bit busy and crowdy because of the popular tourist location. However, the service was quick and smooth. Do stop by on your way to Kiyomizu-dera!
