KOMPAS: Be aware that it can get very busy at times! Unique and wooden decor, and fresh cooked omelettes.

KOMPAS: A must try for breakfast, Café Puck offers a wide range of inspired breakfast dishes from American to a traditional Bavarian plate.

KOMPAS: Fresh Juices, and an open food counter with a minimalistic decor. Very friendly service, and relatively new on the block.

KOMPAS: A must try are the Acai-bowls; not only do they taste great but they're also full of antioxidants and vitamins. Friendly staff and a cool interior, including the hanging chairs.

KOMPAS: Unique cakes, and a hot chocolate to die for. The cakes change fairly regularly and they have flavours to suit all. If you don't fancy a cake, try their sandwiches or soup.

KOMPAS: French, cosy and an old haberdashery store from before WW2. Everything in store is for sale, and the interior is easily matched with high quality and freshly baked cakes. A must visit.

KOMPAS: A regularly changing menu, this small but friendly little café is a must try for freshly cooked, healthy foods, either at breakfast or lunchtime.

KOMPAS: A cute little café in Maxvorstadt, with floral tablecloths, hanging class chandeliers and white, terrace-style furniture all adding to the overall experience. Great for lunch for an afternoon tea.

KOMPAS: Close to Hackerbrücke station, Tram Café offers savoury fillings such as spicy Mexican with beef Bolognase, tortilla chips and lots of jalapeños as well as sweet crêpe's such as their Oreo crêpe.

KOMPAS: Ideal for a healthy but filling breakfast, many dishes consist of fresh fruit, cold meats and more. They offer freshly pressed orange juice or even a glass of prosecco if it takes your fancy.

KOMPAS: Located in Maxvorstadt, expect to find furry four-legged guests roaming around, demanding all the fuss that they can get. Katzentempel as the name suggests, bases itself around cats.

KOMPAS: Often busy regardless of the time, Cotidiano offers some tasty dishes. Known for their baked good goods, they're the place to go for cakes, brownies and tarts as well as breakfast or Flammkuchen.

KOMPAS: As you walk in you immediately see an array of delightful cakes on stands. They have a wooden and rustic interior with vintage floral wallpaper, all adding to the charm. Their cakes regularly change.

KOMPAS: A memorial to Oska Maria Graf, quote's from his work can be found on plates, at the bottom of cups and around the café. They excel in their selection of cakes and coffee and are a must try when there.

KOMPAS: Warm croissants, fruit salad and scrambled egg amongst much more are on the menu, allowing you to kickstart your day the right way. Königin 43 has created a friendly vibe, and offers a terrace too!

KOMPAS: Over 150 types of tea are available and Tushita Teehaus is the place to come for a cleansing hot drink. All teas are organically grown and fair-trade where possible, prepared using samovars and more.

KOMPAS: Both magical and enchanting with a good dusting of charm. A set out of a Alice and Wonderland, White Rabbit's Room offers a homemade selection of food with no conservatives or artificial flavours.

KOMPAS: Café Fräulein uses locally sourced ingredients and are by known for their Zimtschnecke. They offer a variety of cakes and quiches as well as cheese fondue. A very feminine café but a must try.

KOMPAS: On the roof of TUM, and creating a name for itself through its latte art, they offer a fantastic view over Munich as well as a buzzing student atmosphere. Regularly full in the summer months.

KOMPAS: A very cosmopolitan vibe welcoming everyone to relax and enjoy themselves in a comfortable setting. Combining oriental and occidental cuisines with German influences they create great homemade dishes.

KOMPAS: Taking the form of a vintage living room with sofas and armchairs ideal for getting cosy and sinking into. A grand selection of cocktails, coffee's and hot chocolates plus cakes and sweet treats.

KOMPAS: Instantly recognisable by its plush sofa's and armchairs upholstered in vintage looking fabrics. Not a speedy service but worth the wait and is the work of a perfectionist. A time capsule café.

KOMPAS: Minimalist and above a men's fashion store, the café is colourful and they create artfully presented food such as tuna and cucumber sandwiches in a pin wheel-style and brioche burgers with pâté.

KOMPAS: The food at Zimt is what distinguishes it from other café's in Munich. From lunch you can choose a variety of dishes including saffron risotto with prawns and chicken satay. A must try for fresh food.

KOMPAS: A fairytale wonderland, and a secret little hideout where you can hide amongst the flowers. You may even catch a glimpse of a pug or parrot. They offer foods such as pumpkin soup and greek salads.

KOMPAS: From the outside it may look like your typical cafe but step inside and you'll find aged wood, antique furniture, and a mix of chairs including a rocking chair. Fresh juices, cookies and more!

KOMPAS: Serving Portugese and Italian dishes such as Tapas, Bricelta also create an exotic like garden, to compliment their food dishes. Open late, and very friendly staff, it's great for a light bite.

KOMPAS: On the edge of Englischer Garten is Milchhäusl, offering light food dishes such as soups and sausage. In the winter months they serve their food in cable cars, and you regularly find queues for food.

KOMPAS: Beluga serves some of Munich's best hot chocolate, available there or as a take away chocolate stick. They produce a wide selection of chocolate products, perfect as gifts for friends and family.

KOMPAS: Man versus Machine have refined coffee-making to an art comparable to that of wine connoisseurs. They highlight the importance of the tasting notes of coffee beans. A must try for coffee-lovers.

KOMPAS: A socially responsible business, using local produce, supporting local brands and being environmentally friendly. A daily changing menu, everything is freshly cooked and well presented. Cash only!

KOMPAS: Zimt Zicke is a cosy little café oozing vintage charm. Gluten-free chocolate cake is a must try, and perfect with one of their home made smoothies. The staff speak great English too. Homely and fun.

KOMPAS: A true French bakery producing high-quality goods such as their 'quiche du gourmand their baguettes filled with duck, camembert and saucisson. A must try are their freshly baked croissants.

KOMPAS: A little café amongst a charming potted garden. Recognisable by its colourful garden chairs surrounding tree stumps, they serve a range of freshly squeezed juices and light snack food.
