Lincoln visited here 3 times. In 1859, he spoke from the east steps. In 1861, he visited Governor William Dennison & found out he won the 1860 election and lastly in 1865 after he was assassinated.

Don't be intimidated! The statehouse is open to all public, seven days a week. Since its renovation, it is a place marvelous to visit.

Very cool. Each of the statues outside the statehouse has a plaque with a phone number. Call the number to get more information about the statue.

Have always loved the rotunda! The museum space and gift shop are great too. Found some unique pieces by Ohio artists.

Did you know? The Rotunda’s floor symbolizes the U.S.’s development; 13 stones (colonies), 3 rings (territories), a star with 32 points (each state at the time) & a band all around (the Constitution). Mehr erfahren

Cool architecture. Really likes the war letter walls. William McKinley, not so much.

This building was built at the start of the Civil War, approximately around 1861. The statehouse took a total of 22 years to be built and in 1996 was restored to its original brilliance.

Go inside and see the history, ask to tour the building, I actually watched a legislation meeting once here when I was a teenager.

Capitol Cafe is no longer cheap, nor do they have free punch. I am perturbed and will not return until this is remedied.
