NYers keep turning out in droves at this nondescript storefront, dabbing their sweat-beaded brows & fanning their overheated mouths for relief from chili-oil-soaked peanut noodles & peppered pickles. Mehr erfahren
LOVED the chongqing chicken wings, beef and broccoli, and salt cod fried rice. red cabbage salad and green tea noodles and celery dish also great. didn't love the mapo tofu. Aces all around
Danny Bowien's comeback in huge new renovated location that feels like an LES lounge, an awesome Asian-y cocktail menu, and the same great spicy food: Mapo tofu, thrice cooked bacon, Kung Pao pastrami
The notorious CHONGQING CHICKEN WINGS with their addictive spice levels and mouth-numbing sensation will keeps you eating more no matter how much pain you're in!
Nothing like that Szechuan peppercorn. Wings, whole fish, kung pao pastrami, fried rice and the tartare. Can't go wrong with their unique cocktails. Bonus: they take reservations! Go w/ a group!
Mission Chinese accepts reservations for large parties through the Reserve app. Parties starting at eight guests are required to pre-select a menu before their dinner, or they can leave it up to chef. Mehr erfahren
Get the thrice cooked bacon, beef jerky fried rice, and T3 (with or without rum). Great Saturday night crowd. We took a seat at the bar downstairs and accidentally crashed a major celeb group dinner.
a michelada, the thrice-cooked bacon, the chongqing chili chicken wings, the salt cod fried rice and, like, lots & lots of beer. use one napkin for your hands and the other for when your eyes tear up.
Certainly a scene, but a pretty good one. Take note of spicy labeling... they're not lying! Try a bit of everything, rice, noodle and meat dishes are a must. Kung Pao Pastrami is a must.
At Mission Chinese Food, eating Chonqing chicken wings, dusted with sugar and electric-powered Sichuan peppercorns, is the gustatory equivalent of French kissing a taser. Mehr erfahren
The chef is constantly tinkering with the menu, so who knows what you'll find when you drop by. The subterranean, pink-lit dining room is playful, but none too comfy. Go at lunch to avoid the crowds. Mehr erfahren
Everything I had was very tasty. The menu is quite interesting to say the least. I’m not a huge fan of Chinese food, but this place is great. Get the wings, brisket and fried rice with chips.
The real party here is upstairs. A lively mix of diners spinning lazy Susans loaded with pork cheeks and turnip cakes while golden-age hip-hop pumps through the room. Mehr erfahren
i don't eat red meat or pork but was still able to have a very fulfilling (& spicy) meal. High energy level. Staff is great. The fried rice was the best I've ever tasted. Drinks? Get the re-animator!
Order the excellent Spicy Chicken Wings as a starter, and the Cumin Lamb Ribs as a main. Skip the overly-sauced Mapo Tofu and the bizarre Squid Ink Peanut Noodles.
Cool the burn with a nifty version of chilled Japanese soba, which ramps up the traditional austere presentation with a very Southwestern (American, that is) green chile sauce. Mehr erfahren
Danny Bowien's gonzo Chinese cooking is more refined and smart than it used to be. The new dining room is also gorgeous, with red banquets lending an old New York feel.
Chef/proprietor Danny Bowien and executive chef Angela Dimayuga have added a raw bar, two generous family-style set menus, and showstoppers like duck baked in clay. Mehr erfahren
Polarizing place, some people love it some people hate it. I love it. The flavors are way more authentic than 95% of the Szechuan spots in NY. Can't go wrong with wings, beans, peanut noodles, clams.
Start with a Phil khallins or two, get the super flavorful chicken wings (if you can handle spice), green tea noodles, beef jerky fried rice, and really anything else. Move on to beer halfway through.
I can not recommend the chewy green tea noodles, Napa cabbage and salt and pepper lamb tips enough! Every drink was killer, I recommend the Phil Collins. We had no trouble cleaning our plates!
Mission Chinese has grown into a two-tiered banquet hall with two tasting menus, two cocktail bars, and amuse bouches for everyone (cilantro egg dumplings).
the beef jerky fried rice and the brisket were amazing spice-free dishes. but you know you're going to get the spicy fried chicken....just to say you tried it.
The chicken wings are ACTUALLY spicy but trick is to order them with everything and let them get cold and eat them at the end. They're completely worth the wait!
Josefina's House Special Chicken is a riff on the Filipino version of pollo relleno. It's stuffed with pork, eggs, Parmesan, butter, olives, raisins, and pickles before being roasted. Mehr erfahren
The MC crew has settled into their new space nicely and the cocktails (Tso's!) are a nice addition. Lobster on the fried rice is generous, chicken mango salad is refreshing, wings are a highlight.
way better than the old location. order the tasting menu - the 3x cooked bacon, the wings, the green tea noodles! don't forget to check out the bar downstairs. love the vibe - hit up 169 bar after.
Go with a group so that you can order the large platters. Reserve app lets you book reservations for small fee. Don't miss the koji fried chicken, salt cod fried rice and napa cabbage.
The turnip cake appetizer was great! The fried chicken was excellent and I wish I could eat the cumin lamb tibs every hour on the hour. Fall of the bone and melt in your mouth greatness!
I know it's tempting to go straight for the kung pao pastrami, but the chef's special brisket is truly an honorable tribute to the cows that gave their lives for your dinner.
Pork jowls, cumin lamb, pig ears with potato salad and the dinner-only Polynesian pork ribs are all great. Salt cod fried rice is essential. Come during lunch! Little to no wait.
While the tasting menu looks tempting, I can't imagine finishing it. We got the Tiger Salad, Rice Cakes, Kung Pao Pastrami and the Beggars duck for four and it was more than enough - all awesome!
Wowow - fusion Sichuan food. I've been a few times and it's varying degrees of spicy, salty, and sichuan-peppercorny. Chicken wings, kung pao pastrami, and cut the spice with green tea noodles
The brisket and greens are insanely good as well as the rice with mushrooms. The noodles are crazy hot - just order if you can handle it. Also, this is a place to share food so don’t go there alone..
Get the peanut noodles and the triple cooked bacon. The salt cod rice was 'meh' and the chicken wings - albeit delicious - were too spicy for my German tastebuds to do their work. Lots of beer needed.
Being Cali transplants, we could not be happier when our fav chinese joint decided to join us on the East Coast! EVERYTHING is delicious, but you'll always find the thrice cooked bacon on our table!
This place is amazing and the menu is deep. The spicy peanut noodles were fantastic as was the thrice cooked bacon. Wings are more of an experience than an edible, enjoyable dish.
This place is a 10/10. Get the fried chicken, insanely spicy wings (next time I'd do with bread service), egg roll, pork cheek, & the star of the show BEEF JERKY FRIED RICE. UNREAL.
The most flavorful and delicious "Chinese food" I have ever eaten! If you go early enough (late lunch time) you won't have to wait too long. The ambiance is chill yet fun. Can't wait to go back!
Sistema suggests: beef tartare, raw scallops, green tea noodles, black truffle and ham soup*, lamb soup, clams in black bean sauce, pork cheeks, oat noodles*, beggars duck*
Everything is good here! Seriously this place checks every box for me, from Asian inspired cocktails to lip tingling chicken wings to incredible kitsch oriental aesthetic. Love it!
The thrice cooked bacon, cold kale salad, and salt cod fried rice were delicious. the chicken wings which are highly praised are also explosively spicy. I lost feeling in my mouth for a good 15 min
Everything is good here. Close your eyes, point a finger at a random menu item, and I guarantee you'll enjoy it, just watch out for spicy foods if you're not into that.
Flavors are great but more enjoyable for the uniqueness, cocktails are a good example. The spice on the wings is crazy, super fun. All the dishes we got were great.
The secret to Mission Chinese's chef Angela Dimayuga's fried chicken? Koji—a form of fermented rice or soybeans—as a marinade and aging the chicken so that it fries to perfection. Mehr erfahren
