Everyone goes to Angkor Wat for sunrise, 90% of the people will go back into town for breakfast. Pack breakfast & enjoy the temples when they are deserted and cold.
Watched the sunrise over the beautiful temple. Excellent location for photography! Get a guided tour of the temple, it has an amazing history behind it.
Do your research about the carvings before hand unless you plan to hire a guide.
Best temple to visit? It's Bayoun for sure! The most beautiful sculptures I've ever seen..
If you go to watch the Sunrise, take a torch and do not rush to the ponds, wait back and grab a seat on the terrace just after the main gate - much better view
Bring trousers at least to the knee and short sleeve top, I couldn't get to the top because I had shorts :(
Make sure you try the restaurant across the entrance of Angkor Wat. It's called Chez Sop'hea! Patron is a character, so make sure you drink a glass with him.
If you want to go at the highest point of the temple, make sure you are not wearing a sleeveless top as it is not permitted.
For me the best and more magical temple of all Angkor (even better than Angkor Vat)
If you can't make it there early go during the 12:00 hour when all the tours are at lunch to experience this temple properly.
You can spend the night at this temple and have it for yourself at sunrise. The movie Indiana Jones and The temple of doom was partially shot here.
